Mohamed Salah Issues Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that Salah said sorry to the group of players following the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has refused to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the games following the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and starting to win games.”
