Indianapolis Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his center to save his bacon with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
