Barcelona to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Recent Activities
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium in early November. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
